Spicy Kale and Artichokes

This Thanksgiving we were blessed to share some of our favorite recipes with family and friends. One of the items on the list was our Spicy Kale and Artichokes tossed with our special sauce made from scratch. This simple dish is easy to make, healthy and very tasty. We are huge fans of kale and enjoy experimenting with different ways to prepare the yummy vegetable. Serving kale as a substitute for other greens – particularly during the holidays, is a great way to change things up. If you’re looking for a way to add green vegetables to your next family gathering that’s quick, but packs a flavorful punch, then this recipe will do the trick.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup olive oil
  • 1/4 Cup sunflower basting oil
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Onion powder to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
  • Brags Amino to taste (salty soy sauce substitute)
  • Ground ginger to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Liquid smoke – a few drops (don’t overdue as it can overtake the taste of the dish)
  • Momma Mel’s Peppa Sauce – a few drops

Combine all ingredients in a separate bowl to create the sauce

Sauté onions in olive oil in a pan until caramelized – set to the side

Sauté artichoke hearts with olive oil in a pan, season lightly with salt and pepper – set to the side

Sauté kale in olive oil, season with a dash of salt in a pan – don’t overcook – remove from pan to stop cooking

Combine kale, artichokes and onions in a large bowl and drizzle sauce as you blend

Serve
