Aahhh, Shishito Peppers… What a surprising little guy. Shishitos are a small, slender pepper native to Japan and roughly the length of your finger. The pepper turns from green to red during the ripening process, however they are usually harvested while green. If you’re a foodie, then you’ll enjoy the spice adventure with these wonderful peppers. About one out of every ten peppers is spicy. Shishitos can be broiled, grilled or pan-fried in oil – and even eaten raw if you so desire. We love to eat these beauties sautéed with sesame oil and caramelized onions. Serve this recipe at your next gathering, as they are sure to be a hit.
